Spiritual wellbeing

May 8, 2024

Spiritual wellbeing has been a pillar of Karuna’s care since its conception in 1992. Venerable Pende Hawter’s vision was to provide community palliative care at home at no cost, to help alleviate the fear and suffering that comes with dying.

When spiritual care is offered alongside traditional medical support, it may help to alleviate some of the complex emotions surrounding diagnosis and treatment such as distress, anxiety, fear and even anger.

Karuna operates from a rich values base of compassion, kindness and humanity. A vital part of our service is found in our Buddhist roots and the spiritual care that is embedded into our work.

Your generosity will help our multidisciplinary Community Services team continue to provide experience and dedication when delivering personalised and holistic care to patients and families in Brisbane.
