Social Worker’s Day

Mar 18, 2025

At Karuna, we’re fortunate to have 3 extraordinary social workers (Michelle, Theresa and Linda) who guide patients and families through their palliative and end-of-life journey.

Their compassion and expertise provide comfort and support during one of life’s most challenging journeys. 🙏 Their work touches countless lives, offering a listening ear, a helping hand, and a source of hope when it’s needed most.

We asked each of them what it means to be a social worker at Karuna:

“Being able to walk alongside the people who choose Karuna for their end of life and palliative care, and contribute to people feeling empowered, informed and supported is what I love about my role. There is the opportunity to have a positive impact on people’s experience and support them to live as well as possible.” – Michelle

“Social Work continues to teach me every day, and in my role at Karuna I experience the power of human connection in a community of passionate colleagues who are dedicated to serving others. What a privilege this is!” – Theresa

“At Karuna, my role as a social worker allows me to care for the entire family through the end-of-life journey. I find meaning getting to know the patients and their loved ones, and finding out what’s important and what matters most to them. – Linda

Today on World Social Work Day, we honour their invaluable contributions and the heart they pour into every moment. Thank you for being the light in the darkness.
