16 Guidelines Meditation Series

Recently Karuna hosted a series to cultivate positive inner qualities. The series was inspired by the Foundation for Developing Compassion and Wisdom’s (FDCW) 16 Guidelines program. The meditation section of the sessions are available below.

  • Try starting with one of the settling practices.
  • Then listen to the introduction to the guideline.
  • If possible, take some time to ponder what was talked about in the introduction or discuss it with someone if that is available to you.
  • Next, move on to the main practice.
  • After that, spend some more time pondering and discussing what came up for you in the practice.
  • Now, think about how you are going to take what you have understood from this guideline into your daily life, today, over the next week or months.
  • Try to be as specific as you can about what you are going to do, but be gentle with yourself as you do it.
  • Lastly dedicate the positive energy and increased understanding from this session.

May all those who are ill – mentally or physically – have good health
May all those who are hungry or thirsty – have food and drink
May all those who are being harmed by violence, war or conflict – be at peace
May all those who don’t have a home – be comfortable and safe.
May all those who are challenged with loneliness, disharmony or financial pressures – have an end to their worries and increased happiness.
Finally think: How wonderful it would be if everyone in my life, in the country and in the world were to reach their potential
