Because carers need care too.

What we offer

At Karuna, we believe carers deserve as much support, compassion, and care as the person they’re looking after.

Caring for someone with a life-limiting illness is an act of love, but it can also be one of the most challenging roles you’ll ever take on. Our dedicated Carer Support team is here to assist you with practical help and emotional guidance, facilitating connection to others in similar circumstances and offering tools to help you feel confident and supported in your caring role.

We also provide ongoing grief and bereavement support through peer groups and specialised counselling, helping carers and families navigate loss and find connection and comfort.

Through our Wellways Carer Gateway partnership, you will have access to practical guidance, advocacy, education and specialised counselling to support your unique situation.

Supporting your emotional wellbeing

From navigating the healthcare system to understanding what to expect day-to-day, our team provides one-on-one support led by you, giving you greater clarity and confidence in the caring role.

Whether it’s help with administrative planning, developing coping strategies, or connecting you with useful resources, we’re here to make life more manageable and reduce stress and overwhelm.

Who we care for

Eligible carers include anyone providing unpaid care to a family member or friend living with a life-limiting illness, whether that person has just received a diagnosis, is receiving palliative care, nearing end of life, or has recently died.

Current Carers

A current carer is anyone who is supporting someone with a life-limiting illness—emotionally, physically or practically. You don’t need to be the main carer, and you don’t need to identify as one.

Bereaved Carers

A bereaved carer is someone who was caring for a loved one and is now navigating life after loss. We offer support for up to 12 months post-bereavement through connection, peer-led discussions, shared stories, and discussing grief, meaning, loss and moving forward. This program is co-designed and carer-led.

Referrers

As a referrer, you are instrumental in helping people recognise their caring role and access the support they may not realise is available to them. Referrals can be made directly by carers or by health professionals with consent. We invite you to refer carers to Karuna—whether they are family members, friends, or neighbours—who may be quietly carrying the burden of care.
