For many people, the holiday season is a time of connection and celebration. For those who are grieving, it can also bring a deep ache: an empty chair, a missing voice, traditions that no longer feel the same. Whether your loss is recent or from many years ago, this season can stir up feelings you didn’t expect.
This session offers a warm, supportive space to talk honestly about what the holidays can bring up, and to leave with practical ideas you can actually use. It is open to anyone grieving the death of someone they love, including family carers and those who have supported a loved one through illness.
This is a psychoeducational session, not therapy or counselling. You’ll hear practical information and reflections, with time for questions. You’re welcome to keep your camera off and take part in whatever way feels comfortable. There’s no pressure to share.
What we’ll explore:
- Why grief often intensifies at this time of year, and why that’s normal
- How to plan ahead for difficult days, moments and gatherings
- Ways to adapt, simplify or let go of traditions that feel too heavy
- Meaningful ways to include and remember the person who has died
- How to handle well-meaning comments and the pressure to “be merry”
- Looking after yourself when energy and patience are low
- Where to find support when you need more
