Death Matters: Coffee & Catch Up

‘Death Matters’ is a new Karuna Peer Support group providing a safe and welcoming space for carers to come together over coffee and engage in open conversations about death, dying, grief, and end-of-life experiences. The group promotes connection, reflection, and shared understanding through respectful discussion.

‘Death Matters’ encourages participants to explore one of life’s most universal experiences in a supportive and inclusive environment where listening is valued as much as sharing. This peer support group is non-therapeutic, and sessions follow a simple structure of a light welcome, facilitated discussion, connection and closure, creating opportunities to normalise conversations about death and dying, reduce fear and stigma, and strengthen community connection. With the purpose of supporting carers through information, connection, wellbeing and peer support, ‘Death Matters’ offers a meaningful space for carers to share experiences, gain perspective, and feel less alone in their caring journey.

Primarily intended for:

  • Older carers;
  • Carers supporting people living with life-limiting illnesses;
  • Those receiving palliative or end-of-life care, and;
  • Carers supporting older people experiencing frailty associated with ageing.
