Making sense of death and grief
Death, dying, loss, and grief are integral parts of the human experience, yet they often remain topics shadowed by anxiety, fear and a negative perception.
Recognising that these experiences are natural and normal, can help with understanding that life and death are not opposites but are a fundamental part of living well and dying peacefully. We will all experience them in some form at some point in our life.
Grief can begin at any time when we experience the sense of loss of something meaningful. Although it is not always obvious that it is grief that we are feeling, each person can experience loss in unique ways, and at different times.
Being curious about death
Karuna’s approach to being with death – being curious and having an open understanding of death – is supported by the Buddhist principles that underpin our work. At Karuna, we recognise the fundamental and interconnected relationship between life and death and the importance of experiencing them both with openness and heart.
Whether you are accessing our Resource Hub, learning the practicalities of ‘death admin’ or listening to our insightful podcast What About Death!?, we can support your curiosity and understanding, and that death is a normal and inevitable part of life.
